Results Management & Sanctions
Results Management is the formal process used by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya
(ADAK) to review, assess, and resolve potential Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs).
It ensures that every case is handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with
established Legal and International Standards. The process protects both the rights of
athletes and the integrity of sport.
ADAK conducts Results Management in line with:
1. The World Anti-Doping Code
2. The International Standard for Results Management (ISRM)
3. The Anti-Doping Act
4. The ADAK Anti-Doping Rules
Possible Sanctions
If a violation is confirmed, consequences may include:
1. A period of ineligibility (ban from sport)
2. Disqualification of results, medals, and prize money
3. Financial consequences where applicable
Sanctions are determined in line with the World Anti-Doping Code, taking into
account the nature of the violation and the athlete’s level of fault.
When Does Results Management Begin?
Results Management starts when ADAK receives evidence of a possible violation, such
as:
1. A positive test result (Adverse Analytical Finding)
2. Abnormal Athlete Biological Passport findings
3. Refusal to submit to testing
4. Tampering or other non-analytical violations
Each case undergoes an initial review before the athlete is formally notified.
Athlete Rights
An athlete is entitled to:
1. Written notice of the allegation
2. Access to evidence
3. The opportunity to respond
4. A fair hearing before an impartial and independent panel
5. Legal representation
6. The right to appeal
Confidentiality is maintained in accordance with the International Standards.
Appeals & Publication
Decisions may be appealed in accordance with the provisions as per the ADAK Anti-
Doping Rules and, where applicable, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Final decisions are published in accordance with international standards to promote
transparency and protect clean sport.
