Mohamed Mraja is currently the Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Bomet University College (a Constituent college of Moi University), since 2021. He became a senior lecturer in Islamic Studies in 2010 . He holds a doctorate degree Islamic Studies from the Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg, Germany. He has obtained a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, as well as a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree in Religious Studies and Geography from Kenyatta University, Nairobi. He has been serving as a Board Member of ADAK since June 2025. He also serves as a Member of the Board of Governors, Bomet Central Technical and Vocational College since June 2024. Dr Mraja served briefly (11th-15th November 2024) as the Acting Deputy Principal, Administration and Finance, of Bomet University College. In June 2024, he was appointed as a Member of the BUC Second Strategic Plan 2023-2028 Launch Committee, Bomet University College. He currently is the Chairperson, Performance Contracting and Strategic Plan (2018-2023) Review
Steering Committee in Bomet University College. He is serving in different national bodies such the Islamic Religious Education Panel, Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development (KICD), Nairobi, Kenya, as a Member. He is also serving as a Pre-Qualified Peer Reviewer, for the Commission for University Education (CUE), Nairobi, Kenya. Prior to these appointments, he served as the Head of Department, Department of Gender and Social Economic Development, Moi University, Kenya. He has a wealth of experience in teaching, research and consultancy services as well as being the author of many referred journals, books and other educational publications.
Among professional trainings that Mraja has undergone include: ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Implementation Course Certificate offered by the National Quality Institute, Kenya Bureau of Standards, and a Certificate in Performance Contracting in Public Service, obtained in 2025, from the Kenya School of Government.
