Nairobi, 05 November 2026
The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) wishes to clarify information circulating in the media and across various public platforms regarding the provisional suspension of an athlete identified as Noah Kibet.
ADAK confirms that the athlete provisionally suspended effective 8th October 2026 is Cherokony Noah Kibet, an athlete who competes in long-distance events of 3000m or greater.
The provisional suspension relates to the presence of a prohibited substance classified under S9 (Glucocorticoids), specifically Triamcinolone Acetonide.
The similarity in the names of the two athletes has occasioned confusion and speculation in sections of the media and among members of the public, resulting in the erroneous association of Noah Kibet, the 800 metres athlete and 2022 World Indoor Championships silver medallist, with the provisional suspension.
ADAK wishes to categorically clarify that the 800 metres athlete is NOT the athlete subject to the provisional suspension and should not be associated with the matter.
ADAK remains steadfast in its responsibility to safeguard the rights, dignity and reputation of clean athletes while ensuring fairness, accuracy and transparency in the administration of anti-doping programmes.
ADAK consequently urges media houses, stakeholders and members of the public to correct any inaccurate publications and refrain from further circulation of misleading information or photographs associating the 800 metres athlete with this case.
ADAK reiterates that a provisional suspension does not constitute a final determination of an anti-doping rule violation. The matter remains subject to the applicable results-management procedures.
The Agency remains committed to protecting clean sport, upholding due process and safeguarding athletes’ reputations.
